Energy security.
On September 3, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan told Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call that his country can play a facilitator role regarding the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in Ukraine, Reuters reported. At the same day, IAEA reported that Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has once again lost the connection to its last remaining main external power line, but the facility is continuing to supply electricity to the grid through a reserve line. In addition, new details of the arrival of the IAEA mission have appeared. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in connection with the arrival of the IAEA commission, the occupiers removed all military equipment from the territory of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. About 100 units were moved to the Atom Energomash plant, the rest were distributed in the nearest settlements. However, The Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi, reported during a press conference in Vienna that he ‘was able to see, myself and my team, impact holes, markings on buildings from shells, which means that the physical integrity of the facility has been violated not once but several times.’ He confirmed that six members of the mission remained at the ZNPP to continue their work. Also the IAEA decided to organize a permanent presence of the mission at the ZNPP of two people. The Chairman of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the Director General of the IAEA have already discussed the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
Ukraine is leaving the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research due to the detachment and inaction of JINR scientists regarding the war in Ukraine.
French company Air Liquide, one of the world’s largest producers of gasses, technologies and services for industry, has announced that it is withdrawing from Russian projects and ceasing operations in Russia
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has increased its fuel imports 12 times. In August, 4.2 thousand tons of gasoline and 16.9 thousand tons of diesel fuel were imported into Ukraine. The supply leaders are Romania, Lithuania, Slovakia, Greece, Bulgaria, and Poland.
Foreign policy.
Estonian Prime Minister Kaia Kallas has called on Western countries to isolate the Russian Federation until it is defeated in the war against Ukraine.
Forced migration.
Germany will provide Ukraine with an additional 200 million euros to fund aid programs for those internally displaced as a result of Russia’s invasion, Reuters reported.
Cities under attack.
Dnipropetrovsk region. On September 2, the Russian militants attacked the Nikopol district. One person was injured, one house was destroyed and 16 were damaged. Also, a lyceum, cars, a gas piper and power lines were damaged. More than 2000 people remained without electricity, almost 5000 without water. The next morning, on September 3, in one district of the region, Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down 5 Russian missiles that were directed at Dnipro. Falling debris caused several fires. Also, Russian invaders shelled the Nikopol district. Private houses, household buildings, cars and a gas piper were damaged. There is destruction of private houses in the Kryvorizka district. During the day, the Russian invaders shelled the Zelenopilsk community. As a result, a 9 year old child was killed, 10 people were injured. 8 high-rise buildings, shops, a kindergarten, a lyceum and the National Academy of Medical Sciences were damaged. In the morning of September 4, the Russian occupiers shelled Nikopol district again. 5 private houses and household buildings were damaged in Nikopol and a private house, warehouses and the passage of a local factory were damaged in Marhanetska community.
Mykolaiv region. On September 2, the Russian military attacked 3 districts of the region. A private house and farm buildings were damaged. On the morning of September 3, the Russian invaders launched a missile attack on Mykolaiv. The rocket hit a private yard and destroyed a house and outbuildings. One person was injured. At the same time, the Russian occupiers attacked 3 districts of the region. Private houses, a civil infrastructure facility and an enterprise were damaged. One child was killed, 4 people were injured, 3 of them are children. Also, on the night of September 4, Mykolaiv was shelled by Russian invaders. Three medical institutions, two educational institutions, residential buildings, a hotel and a museum were significantly damaged.
Kharkiv region. At night on September 2, the Russian invaders launched a missile attack on Kharkiv. As a result, a sports complex and cars were damaged. On the same day, 4 districts of the region were attacked. Private houses were damaged. During the day, 3 people were injured and one person was killed as a result of the shelling. On September 3, the Russian occupiers attacked Kharkiv again. As a result of the attack, the rocket hit the ground next to the school’s administration building, the wave knocked out the school’s windows and damaged the house nearby. 4 districts of the city were shelled. 6 people were injured. The private houses, household buildings were set on fire as a result of the shelling. The night of September 4, the missile attack was launched on Kharkiv. As a result of the missile hit, a large-scale fire broke out in the restaurant building. At noon, the Russian invaders attacked Kharkiv again. As a result, two people were injured.
Sumy region. On the night of September 4, the Russian invaders shelled 7 communities in the Sumy region. As a result private houses, a school and a village council were damaged.
Donetsk region. In Chasiv Yar the Russian military shelled an apartment building that housed a hospice for the elderly that was destroyed as a result of the attack.
Cities under occupation.
Henichesk. In the occupied city, the Russian invaders require citizens to have a Russian passport to get a job. Those who refuse are persecuted and intimidated.
Zaporizhzhia region. The Russian occupiers’ Electoral Commission of the Zaporozhzhia region received samples of voting equipment. The occupiers brought samples of booths and boxes for ‘voting’ to pseudo-referendums.
Kherson region. In the temporarily occupied region, the Russian invaders have taken up the development of telegram channels in order to spread anti-Ukrainian propaganda, while at the same time they are actively involving television and print publications.
Melitopol. In the temporarily occupied city, the Russian invaders began to issue summonses to local residents and force them to fight for the Russian Federation.
Human rights.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian occupiers have illegally taken more than seven thousand Ukrainian children to the territory of the Russian Federation. Only 51 children have been returned to Ukraine.
On September 2, another exchange of prisoners of war took place. 14 Ukrainian defenders returned from the Russian captivity.
Evacuation.
Ukrainian Railways ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ launched an evacuation program for Ukrainian citizens living in Crimea. They will be able to use evacuation trains from Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, and Odesa for free. They will also be provided with hot food on the way and free medical assistance.
Sanctions.
Special economic and other sanctions for a period of 5 years will be applied to teachers and educational institutions in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, which spread educational standards of the Russian Federation and recognize educational qualifications awarded by higher educational institutions of the Russian Federation.
More than 700 individuals and legal entities associated with the Russian state corporation Rosatom were included in the sanctions list of Ukraine.
Media.
Ukraine and Great Britain are developing a project for better broadcasting of Ukrainian TV and radio signals in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Digital security.
The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, exposed the organizers of two bot farms, which together had about 7000 fake accounts. They spread discrediting Ukrainian authorities and pro-Russian narratives.
